We HATE TV Station Logos & Screen Bugs!!

April 28th, 2008 . by admin

How long will we have to live with TV station logos and screen bugs on our TV screens? You know the type, always down in the bottom right corner.

It took me a couple years to get use to seeing them there. Now they went from a pale, some-what transparent color, to full blown animated color graphics. Sometimes you’ll see miniture TV stars walk onto the screen, dance around, hold up a little sign about when their next show airs, and then walk off again.

The latest one I saw was even worse. It popped up a big black banner at the top of the screen that started doing weird animations and flashing colored text, then it disappeared again.

Is it not bad enough that I pay $100 a month to purchase my satellite TV programming? Isn’t it bad enough that I have to sit through 20 minutes of commercials during a 1 hour program?

Now you have to clutter my screen with useless spam and advertising which I DO NOT CARE about. I purposely will not watch a program or make note of any information that is advertised to me this way.

Why do we all tolerate this? You know why? Because we’re all sitting ducks, and we either accept what they ram down our throats, or we just have no TV.

This article at NewsLab talks more about these screen “bugs”, and is pretty interesting.

If anyone knows of a petition, watchdog group, coaltion to fight these annoying TV screen bugs, aka DOGs (Digital on-Screen Graphics), please let me know, either by public comment, or by private email.
